A decorated combat veteran with missions over Iraq, Chip Lamb is a certified Level 1 (Unrestricted) demonstration pilot, and acts as the Trojan Phlyers flight lead, air show coordinator and scheduler.  He went thru Air Force pilot training where in 1978 he received his pilot’s wings and an assignment to Europe flying the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II. After eight years of flying fighters, during three overseas tours of duty, Chip left the active duty Air Force in 1985 to fly F-16’s with the Texas Air National Guard at Kelly AFB, Texas. He also joined the commercial pilot ranks in 1985 as a pilot for American Airlines where he flew for 23 years retiring in 2008 while flying Boeing 757’s and 767’s on international routes. After 30 years in the military, Chip retired as a Colonel in the U.S. Air Force Reserve in 2007. He also holds FAA Certified Flight Instructor, Instrument, and Multi-Engine Instructor ratings.

Chip Lamb was born and raised in Western North Carolina where he learned his love of flying from his father and got his flight training as a Cadet in the Civil Air Patrol. After graduating from Hendersonville High School, he left North Carolina to attend the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado, where he graduated in 1977 with a major in military history.
